No.56 has always hosted a vibrant creative community.
The #no56sketchbookchallenge keeps that spirit going outside these four walls… using the world of Instagram.
How Does it Work?
Each month, we set a sketchbook challenge. A topic, just to start you off, and to fire your creative brain.
Then it’s over to you for some sketches! Pen and ink… soft pencil… crayon… whatever feels comfortable, and whenever you find the time. Daily, weekly, once a month… however it works for you.
Upload your sketches to Instagram, using the hashtag #no56sketchbookchallenge. They could be complete works; or they could be works-in-progress, or idle thoughts, or rough drafts towards a final idea. Whatever - just remember to use the hashtag… and follow it, to see other peoples’ work.
Share, view, enjoy… and help the community of sketchers with your supportive comments! Because we all need a bit of support now and again.
From time to time we’ll run special workshops that will allow you to bring your sketches along and develop them within a different space or media – watch out for updates on - for example - watercolours, raku pottery and glass fusion. They're hosted by (and attended by) friendly, lovely, creative people... come along, be inspired and extend your skills!
You can attend as many or as few of these as you wish – there’s no commitment to any of this, aside from the cost of a pencil.
